Chelsea-PSG: "It doesn't take anything away from this crazy season," says Marquinhos

Paris defender and captain Marquinhos made no secret of his disappointment after the 3-0 defeat to Chelsea in the Club World Cup final. However, he didn't appear dejected.
Marquinhos (PSG captain, after the 3-0 defeat to Chelsea in the Club World Cup final): " They worked well on our little weaknesses. Tactically, they put us in difficulty in the first half. It took us a while to react. We'll work on that for the future. All the teams will study us a lot now, to know what we do well and what we don't. It's up to us to always be at our best. Chelsea also won the physical battle, especially in the first half, they won a lot of duels. We were a little below what we can do. That explains the result... The first half was difficult for us. They were very efficient. That changes a result... We saw it in the Champions League final or at the Club World Cup, against Bayern or Real, it changes everything when you're efficient... We had chances, we didn't score.
We really wanted to bring this trophy back to Paris. This competition only takes place every four years. We had a golden opportunity. We don't know if we'll still be there for the next Club World Cup (PSG is qualified for 2029, Editor's note). I'm sorry, it's a shame for us, but it doesn't take anything away from this crazy season. There were some incredible moments. The fans are proud of this team, even if we lost today. We lost with our strengths, our philosophy, we didn't hide, we tried to play our game. Chelsea deserved it and were more effective than us ." (on DAZN)
